Under Secretary Robert D. Hormats will travel to Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles from February 21 to February 27 as part of the Department of State’s ongoing outreach to U.S. business and local government leaders. He will discuss the Department’s efforts to promote U.S. exports abroad, draw foreign investment into the United States, and support international scientific collaboration.
The Under Secretary will be in Miami on February 21 – 24, where he will speak on the Department’s international economics and innovation agenda at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation’s winter conference. Under Secretary Hormats will also meet with members of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Beacon Council. At Miami Dade College, the Under Secretary will deliver remarks on “The Department of State’s Economic Agenda—Supporting American Business Abroad.”
Under Secretary Hormats will then travel to Chicago where he will discuss “Asia-Pacific: New Priorities for American Economic Diplomacy” with members of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He then travels to Los Angeles for meetings with the Motion Picture Association of America on intellectual property rights and enforcement. The Under Secretary will deliver a speech at the University of California, Los Angeles, on the importance of economics as a foreign policy tool and at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council on the “U.S. Economy And China.”
