Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs William R. Brownfield and New York Police Department Commissioner Raymond Kelly will conduct a special press briefing at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, in the Press Briefing Room at the U.S. Department of State. Commissioner Kelly and Assistant Secretary Brownfield will discuss ongoing efforts by the U.S. Department of State to build linkages between U.S. state and local law enforcement agencies and foreign criminal justice counterparts.
For the past two years, Commissioner Kelly’s New York Police Department has coordinated with the Department of State to deploy 68 Haitian-American police officers to Haiti for 90 day rotations to build capacity for the Haitian National Police.
Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
