Assistant Secretary for Conflict and Stabilization Operations Rick Barton will travel to Aspen, CO, July 18-19, 2013, to attend the 2013 Aspen Security Forum.
On Friday, July 19, Assistant Secretary Barton will speak on a panel entitled “Putting Out Fires Before They Spread: The U.S. Role in Preventing Conflict.” He will be joined by co-panelists Admiral Bill H. McRaven, Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command; Michael Sheehan, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict; and Major General Raymond Thomas, Former Commander, Special Operations Joint Task Force Afghanistan. POLITICO’s Josh Gerstein will moderate the discussion.
The Assistant Secretary’s remarks will begin at 1:30 p.m., at the Aspen Meadows Campus, 845 Meadows Road, Aspen, CO 81611. This event will be open to the press.
