The Governments of the United States and the Republic of Korea held the second bilateral Cyber Consultations in Washington, D.C. on July 15, 2013. Christopher Painter, Coordinator for Cyber Issues, led the United States delegation and was joined by representatives from the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security and Justice. The Republic of Korea interagency delegation was led by Ambassador for International Security Affairs Sung-joo Choi.
The Cyber Consultations reinforced U.S.-Republic of Korea collaboration on a wide range of cyber issues, including international norms in cyberspace, Internet and Information and Communications Technology policy, cybercrime cooperation, and cyber security issues.
In addition, the two sides discussed areas for deeper engagement, especially in the area of cyber capacity building and preparations for the upcoming Seoul Conference on Cyberspace. Both sides agreed to hold the next Cyber Consultations in Seoul in 2014.
