The Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) has prequalified three firms for preconstruction and construction services for the new U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico.

The successful prequalified offerors are:

  • B.L. Harbert International, LLC
  • Walsh Global, LLC
  • W.G. Yates and Sons Construction Company

The preconstruction services (Early Contractor Involvement) award is anticipated in fiscal year 2014 with the option to award construction in fiscal year 2015.

The Mexico City project is solicited under OBO’s Excellence in Diplomatic Facilities initiative and will demonstrate the value of an integrated design that balances aesthetics, cost, constructability, and reliability. The Excellence initiative is a holistic approach to project development and delivery that seeks to utilize the best methods, technologies, and staff abilities to produce facilities that are outstanding in all respects.

OBO’s mission is to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities that represent the U.S. Government to the host nation and support our staff in the achievement of U.S. foreign policy objectives. These facilities should represent American values and the best in American architecture, engineering, technology, sustainability, art, culture, and construction execution.
