On November 7, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Biswal and U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena will participate in a State Department Google Hangout to announce the launch of www.liftbangla.org, an innovative, new Public-Private Partnership website. Lift Bangla will allow donors to find and support effective Bangladeshi NGOs, as well as receive feedback from the recipients on how those donations are being implemented. Other participants in the Hangout are the website designer, Adnan Mahmud, and Korvi Rakshand, the founder of the JAAGO Foundation, a Bangladesh-based, non-profit organization that will benefit from the new website.
Today, Bangladesh is a center for social innovation with many initiatives being led by youth. Whether creating new models of healthcare or galvanizing volunteers, these innovative programs are having significant impacts. However, these programs are often hard to find or support, and donors want to know that their contributions are going to legitimate organizations. Lift Bangla will improve the donor experience by directing funds to efficient and legitimate organizations.
What can donors expect from Lift Bangla?
• Best place to find interesting, credible social innovation projects in Bangladesh
• Increased exposure for Bangladeshi youth who are driving change in Bangladesh
• Donations through Lift Bangla are tax-deductible
• Impact reports from the field on how your donations are being implemented
The hangout will be broadcast live on the Department of State’s YouTube channel and Google+ page. Questions can be submitted in advance via Twitter using hashtag #LiftBangla and tweeting at @State_SCA.
