Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard will travel to Geneva, Switzerland from December 10-13, 2013.
While in Geneva, Assistant Secretary Richard will participate in the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) dialogue on protecting and assisting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) worldwide.
Internally displaced persons are people who have been displaced from their homes but who have not crossed an internationally recognized border. The Bureau regularly supports the work of UNHCR and other humanitarian partners worldwide when these organizations respond to the needs of IDPs. .
