Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Rashad Hussain traveled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, December 29-30, 2013 to attend a ceremony welcoming new OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani and honoring outgoing Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
Special Envoy Hussain met with both Ihsanoglu and Madani to discuss U.S. relations with OIC member countries and partnerships with Muslim communities. They also discussed the situations in the Central African Republic and South Sudan, as well as U.S.-OIC cooperation on a range of issues, including health, humanitarian affairs, science and technology, and the protection of religious freedom in OIC countries and around the world.
