Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Paris, Vatican City and Kuwait City from January 11 to January 15.

In Paris, Secretary Kerry will attend a ministerial meeting of the London 11 to coordinate with key international partners on Syria in advance of the Geneva II conference. Secretary Kerry will also meet with representatives of the Arab League’s Arab Peace Initiative Follow-up Committee to update them on the ongoing final status negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians, as part of his continued engagement with our Arab League partners on the issue. In Paris, the Secretary will also meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss a range of bilateral and global issues, including the ongoing preparations for the Geneva II conference on Syria.

Secretary Kerry will travel to the Vatican on January 14 to meet with Secretary of State of the Holy See Pietro Parolin to discuss foreign policy priorities, including Pope Francis' vocal leadership on the Middle East Peace Process, poverty, and humanitarian issues. The United States values the Vatican's vital role globally, leading on international issues and peace efforts. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of our diplomatic relationship with the Holy See and Secretary Kerry is the first Catholic Secretary of State since Secretary Muskie.

In Kuwait City, Secretary Kerry will lead the U.S. delegation to the Second International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria in Kuwait (Kuwait II), co-hosted by the Amir of Kuwait and chaired by the UN Secretary-General. With foreign countries, international organizations and NGOs in attendance at Kuwait II, the Secretary will discuss the critical nature of international contributions towards the 2014 UN appeals for Syria as well as other humanitarian issues surrounding the crisis in Syria, as well as its neighbors.
