Today, U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy Ambassador Daniel Sepulveda hosted a delegation from the Republic of Poland for bilateral meetings on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the U.S. Department of State. The meeting sought to expand bilateral exchanges on ICT policies. The two sides discussed cooperation in the upcoming International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference, 2014 World Telecommunication Development Conference, 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference, and the World Summit on the Information Society+10 process in order to facilitate positive and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Joining Ambassador Sepulveda as part of the U.S. delegation were representatives from the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, and the Commodities Future Trading Commission. The Polish delegation was led by Malgorzata Olszewska, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Administration and Digitization. Undersecretary Olszewska was joined by Magdalena Gaj, Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) and Polish officials from UKE.
Poland and the United States plan to hold a second ICT bilateral meeting in the future.
