Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal will travel, May 1–2, to New York.

On Thursday May 1, Assistant Secretary Biswal will continue to further the Department of State’s engagement with South and Central Asian diaspora communities, meeting with members of the Bukharian Jewish community in Queens. This engagement, which follows Assistant Secretary Biswal’s recent meetings with regional diaspora groups in Washington, D.C., Boston, and Tampa, Florida, is part of our ongoing efforts to affirm the importance of people-to-people and cultural ties, and the important role diaspora communities play in U.S. foreign policy.

On Friday May 2, Assistant Secretary Biswal will meet with U.S. and international officials at the United Nations to review a wide range of bilateral and regional issues. She will also attend the American India Foundation (AIF) Awards to celebrate achievements in the New York Indian diaspora community.
