Dr. Tomicah Tillemann, Senior Advisor to the Secretary for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies, will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan June 23-25, 2014.

While in Bishkek, Dr. Tillemann will discuss a broad range of issues related to democracy and civil society. Dr. Tillemann will meet with representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic including Prime Minister Djoomart Otobaev, Vice Prime Minster Tayirbek Sarpashev, and several Members of Parliament to discuss Kyrgyzstan participation in The Community of Democracies and The LEND Network (Leaders Engaged in New Democracies). Dr. Tillemann will also meet with local and international civil society organizations in Bishkek, including the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society, Human Rights Watch, Freedom House, and others to discuss governance and human rights issues and programs.

During a visit to the American Corner, Senior Advisor Tillemann will host a roundtable discussion with participants from civil society organizations including members and leadership of the Central Asia Leadership Academy (CELA), and Enactus Leadership. Dr. Tillemann will also meet with foreign ambassadors in Bishkek.
