As part of our close and continuing cooperation with Turkey on a range of regional security challenges, Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and Turkish Foreign Ministry Under Secretary Feridun Sinirlioglu chaired a meeting of the U.S.-Turkey Working Group at the U.S. Department of State today. The Working Group’s discussions focused on how the United States and Turkey can further strengthen our coordination on security, counterterrorism, and refugee issues, particularly with respect to the crises in Syria and Iraq. Participants included representatives of the countries’ diplomatic, defense, assistance, and intelligence agencies.
