Public diplomacy is today almost like blended education. You have virtual engagement and you have the physical traditional face-to-face. And it’s not a zero sum game. You need both in your outreach. Of course there is no substitute for having a student sitting at your dinner table, or in your classroom, or in your community particularly over time. So those face-to-face, in-person exchange programs and public diplomacy are still critical. At the same time, we have to introduce more and more virtual exchanges and the use of social media particularly to reach young people where they are. The world is getting younger, 60 percent of the world is young, so we have to go where young people are gravitating and often that’s online.
