The Office of Strategic Communication (SC) is responsible for public affairs and public diplomacy, legislative affairs, diplomatic engagement, and outreach to the academic and NGO communities on behalf of S/CRS. SC is the home of the S/CRS spokesperson and provides the full range of media support and public outreach to the Coordinator and office staff. SC also conducts outreach to and builds partnerships with academic institutions and think tanks in the U.S. and abroad.

The office advises the Coordinator on legislative affairs, ensures responsiveness to Congressional requests for information, arranges meetings with and briefings for Members of Congress and their staff, and seeks to maintain Congressional support for S/CRS and its mission.

SC builds relationships with bilateral and multilateral partners (including the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, the African Union, the OSCE and others) and works to support these partners’ efforts to strengthen their capacity to engage in stabilization and reconstruction operations.

Lastly, SC maintains the S/CRS web site, and provides information technology support to S/CRS-led country engagement teams and interagency working groups dealing with reconstruction and stabilization issues.
