The Operations Directorate (Ops) works closely with Department of State's Bureau for Diplomatic Security and chairs the Interagency Athletic Events Security Coordination Group to coordinate United States Government counterterrorism and security support for the Olympic Games and other major overseas international sporting events.
Ops assisted the governments of Australia, Greece and Italy in preparing for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
