Travel to the Middle East and South Asia Deputy Secretary Armitage traveled to the Middle East and South Asia from November 4-12, 2004. The Deputy Secretary discussed a wide range of issues with officials at each stop, including bilateral relations, regional issues, the global war on terrorism, and supporting Iraq’s reconstruction and transition to democracy.
The first stop for the Deputy Secretary is the United Arab Emirates. The Deputy Secretary went to several stops in the Middle East and several stops in South Asia. Deputy Secretary Armitage visited Pakistan on November 9 and Afghanistan on November 10.
