A more healthy, educated, democratic, and prosperous world — in short, a better world — will also be more stable and secure. The broad aim of our diplomacy and development assistance is to turn vicious circles into virtuous ones, where accountable governments, political and economic freedoms, investing in people, and respect for individuals beget prosperity, healthy and educated populations, and political stability.
