Pakistan Alliance

Pakistan is a key U.S. ally in the war against terrorism. Nearly 500 al-Qaida suspects have been arrested in Pakistan and many of them have been handed over to the United States. Those captured include senior al-Qaida suspects, such as Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who was arrested in March 2003 and is believed to be the No. 3 leader in al-Qaida and a suspected planner of the September 11 terror attacks. Adil Al-Jazeeri, a suspected Osama bin Laden aide, was recently arrested by Pakistani authorities and turned over to the U.S. Pakistan's relationship with India is a crucial element of this complex issue.
