The Department's performance management process includes the long term Strategic Plan, which sets the high level policy and management goals. Flowing from this long term Plan are annual plans at the mission level, termed Mission Performance Plans, and annual plans at the headquarters bureau level, termed Bureau Performance Plans. The most important elements from all Mission and Bureau Performance Plans are included in the annual State and USAID Joint Performance Plan. At the end of each year, the Department produces the annual Performance and Accountability Report which reports on required performance information and includes the required financial statements.
