The Department's performance management process includes the long term Strategic Plan, which sets the high level policy and management goals. Flowing from this long term Plan are annual plans at the mission level, termed Mission Strategic Plans, and annual plans at the headquarters bureau level, termed Bureau Strategic Plans. The most important elements from all Mission and Bureau Strategic Plans are included in the Department's annual Performance Plan. At the end of each year, the Department produces the annual Performance and Accountability Report which reports on required performance information and includes the required financial statements.
