The Department uses a six-level hierarchy of performance management categories of information. At the highest level is the Mission Statement, below which and providing increasingly more detail, are the Strategic Goals, Strategic Priorities, Performance Indicators, Performance Targets, and Performance Results. Planning is achieved by developing these categories from the highest level — the Mission Statement — down through all categories to the annual Performance Results. Execution of the Department’s planning activities is accomplished by achieving these categories from the lowest level of detail — the Performance Results — up through all categories to the Mission Statement.
