Kate Spade Teams Up With Afghans

Ambassador Eikenberry hosted Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues Melanne Verveer; Ms. Zainab Salbi, the CEO and Founder of Women for Women International; and Mr. Craig Leavitt, CEO and Co-President of Kate Spade New York for a press conference and reception at the U.S. Embassy on August 10, 2010. Ms. Salbi and Mr. Leavitt announced that their organizations will extend their existing partnership to Afghanistan, combining traditional Afghan handicraft with Kate Spade’s design aesthetic to develop exclusive products that will be sold in Kate Spade stores around the world. By 2013, they aim to create sustainable employment for 1,000-1,500 Afghan women. More photos»
