On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of the Republic of the Congo as you celebrate 51 years of independence this August 15.
Our two countries are working together on many issues of mutual importance, from strengthening regional security to improving the health of Congolese citizens and safeguarding the environment. The United States is proud to work alongside Congolese civil society and private sector leaders as well as government officials to improve human rights and help build a more stable, secure, democratic, and prosperous Congo.
I wish the people of the Republic of Congo a safe and happy Independence Day celebration. I look forward to strengthening the ties between our peoples as we work toward common goals in the region and around the world.
