Closing Remarks to the OAS General Assembly

Secretary Colin L. Powell
Lima, Peru
September 11, 2001

I will take this expression of your support, I will take this expression of your solidarity, I will take the condolences that you have expressed to the grieving families here today and I will take the spirit of this conference, the spirit of Lima and the strength of the OAS back to the United States with me. And it will be a source of inspiration and strength to us in the difficult days that lay ahead.

And as you mentioned, Mr. Chairman, I now must take my leave. We will be represented here and I will be following the activities of the conference for the rest of the day; but I do have to take my leave at this time. And I thank you sir and I thank my colleagues.

Thank you very much.
