Remarks After Meeting With Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi

Secretary Colin L. Powell
Outside the Willard Intercontinental Hotel
Washington, DC
July 19, 2004

(10:45 a.m. EDT)

Good morning. I'm running to another meeting, but I just might mention I had very good discussions with the new Prime Minister of Malaysia. President Bush is looking forward to seeing him. And we have many things that draw us together and we had a good discussion this morning on some of those issues. We're going to be working together on proliferation security initiatives and we had a good talk about proliferation issues having to do with North Korea and Iran and the work that we can do together in the IAEA. And the President looks forward to seeing the Prime Minister. This is his first visit to the United States as Prime Minister, so my visit this morning was as much to welcome him to the United States. Thank you.
