Secretary Powell visited Santiago, Chile, from June 8-10 and Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 10. In Santiago, he attended the thirty-third annual General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) as well as met with the President of Chile, Ricardo Lagos. He then traveled to Buenos Aires for a meeting with the President of Argentina, Nestor Kirchner. The Secretary discussed key bilateral and regional issues with the leaders of these two important hemispheric partner nations, and the promotion of democratic governance with his OAS colleagues.
