Secretary Powell traveled to Europe and North Africa beginning December 1, 2003.
The Secretary traveled to Maastricht, The Netherlands to participate in the annual Ministerial of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
He then traveled to Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco to confer with leaders in these countries on such issues as the war on terror, the situation in Iraq, the President’s road map for Middle East peace, and promotion of political and economic reform through the President's Middle East Partnership Initiative, as well as bilateral issues.
The Secretary concluded his trip in Brussels, Belgium, where he attended the semi-annual NATO Ministerial.
