Secretary of State Colin L. Powell traveled to Berlin, Germany and Brussels, Belgium.
In Berlin, Secretary Powell held bilateral meetings and attended the International Conference on Afghanistan that took place March 31-April 1.
The German Government hosted the conference, and the Afghan Government led the conference, reaffirming the long-term commitment of the international community to the political, economic and security future of Afghanistan.
In Brussels, the Secretary participated with other NATO Foreign Ministers in an April 2 event marking the formal accession of the seven newest Allies. NATO Foreign Ministers then met to discuss the Alliance's agenda for its June Summit in Istanbul, Turkey.
