Secretary Powell meets with His Majesty, King Abdullah II of JordanSecretary Powell traveled to Jordan for the World Economic Forum meetings on May 15 and 16. There were important discussions on issues of economic development and progress in the region, and the Secretary joined those discussions as he did at the World Economic Forum meeting last year. The trip also gave the Secretary the opportunity to talk with the Palestinians, with Arab leaders, and with other leaders at the meeting about developments in the region, including Iraq, Middle East peace, and reform efforts. Secretary Powell also heard from the Arab foreign ministers about the meetings they held to prepare for the Arab League Summit, and he also briefed them on the meetings for the G-8 that he just held in Washington, DC.
