On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate St. Lucia on the 34th anniversary of independence this February 22.
The United States and St. Lucia work together on mutually important issues, including the health of our citizens through the Partnership Framework for HIV and AIDS, and the security and stability of our region through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative. We also cooperate through the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas and the Peace Corps. We are committed to strengthening the ties of friendship between our countries as we face challenges and celebrate successes together.
I wish a joyous and peaceful independence day to everyone in Bel Sent Lisi. As you celebrate, know that the United States stands with St. Lucia as a partner and friend toward a more peaceful and prosperous future for all our people.
