Remarks Regarding Taped Nowruz Message to the People of Iran

For millions of people across the Middle East and Central Asia, Nowruz is a special time to cherish loved ones and to reflect on new beginnings. In that spirit, we would like to express our hope that the New Year will bring greater understanding between our peoples, new opportunities for freedom, peace and prosperity, and progress in resolving the urgent challenges facing the region and the world.

Here in the United States, we are proud that many Americans will join those in Iran and in other parts of the world in celebrating Nowruz. On behalf of the people of the United States, we extend out best wishes for a joyous and prosperous New Year.
