Well, good morning and welcome for our second day of this important Strategic and Economic Dialogue. We were very pleased by our discussions yesterday, which were thorough, comprehensive, very open and candid and extremely useful.
I would like to thank Secretary Sebelius, who is here with us today to talk about healthcare and the importance of cooperating in that area, our Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, others from across the government. Certainly, it’s a pleasure to have John Holdren, the President’s Science Advisor, because this is an area of increasing importance to us. And we’ll be introducing others as we move through the morning.
Today, we’ll be discussing how we can work together to combat infectious diseases, help some of the word’s poorest countries, and improve the functioning and transparency of energy markets that obviously undergird much of the world’s economy.
So again, I look forward to a wide-ranging discussion. And let me turn it over now to State Councilor Dai.
