On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Kuwait as you celebrate your national day on February 25. This is an occasion to honor Kuwait’s history and culture, as well as the many achievements of the Kuwaiti people.
The United States and Kuwait have long enjoyed a broad partnership built on mutual respect and mutual interest, and today those bonds are stronger than ever. We are working together on matters of common concern and shared responsibility – we’re promoting regional security and stability, helping to revitalize the global economy, and seizing the opportunities of the 21st century.
Kuwait is an indispensable ally and friend, so let me take this opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the United States to our partnership and I offer my warmest wishes to the Kuwaiti people for a happy holiday and a prosperous year ahead.
