On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Montenegro as you celebrate your National Day on July 13. The United States and Montenegro share a partnership based on mutual interests and a common vision for the region and beyond, and we honor this occasion by reaffirming the strong bonds between our countries.
Montenegro has taken several important steps over the past year, including entry into NATO’s Membership Action Plan and working toward integration with the European Union. The United States strongly supports you on this path. We also appreciate Montenegro’s contributions to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, and look forward to our continued partnership on issues of global importance.
I wish the people of Montenegro a safe and happy holiday celebration as we work together toward a democratic, secure and prosperous future.
