On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Bolivia on the 185th anniversary of the founding of your country on August 6.
The vibrant diversity of your society and the richness of your history continue to be sources of strength and success. Multiculturalism and diversity are hallmarks of our hemisphere and a bond that we all share. The people of the Americas are also united by our common ideals of equality and opportunity, democracy and human rights –- and by our shared responsibility to live up to those values.
On this day, we join Bolivia in honoring your past achievements and reflecting on the challenges you have overcome. I send my best wishes to all Bolivians as you celebrate with family and friends, and I look forward to finding more opportunities to work together toward a brighter future for both our countries.
