On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the Australian people on your national day this January 26.
On my recent visit in November, I joined Prime Minister Gillard and Foreign Minister Rudd in commemorating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two nations, a demonstration of the strong and enduring partnership between Australia and the United States. We continue to be inspired by your courage during the recent floods and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
As you celebrate your history of accomplishment, know that the United States is a committed partner and friend. I wish all Australians a safe and happy holiday celebration and continued peace and prosperity in the coming year.
