As newly minted “science diplomats” you create real bridges between the United States and your home countries, as well as between Pakistan and India.
As President Obama has said, “Education and innovation will be the currency of the 21st century.” This includes meeting new people in new places and broadening your knowledge through scientific observation, discovery, and exploration.
India and Pakistan have a unique history. Years ago, it would have been difficult to imagine a program that brought people from both nations together like this. In a world that is increasingly interconnected, where mutual respect and understanding are more important than ever, what you are all doing over the course of the next week shows us that progress is possible.
During your time at Space Camp, I hope you take the opportunity to challenge yourselves, forge lasting friendships with students from a variety of backgrounds, and -- most importantly -- have fun.
