On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of the Republic of Palau on the anniversary of your Independence this October 1.
The United States and the Republic of Palau share a long history of cooperation on a broad range of issues, from strengthening regional security, to promoting sustainable development and curbing climate change, to protecting fisheries and the environment. I especially want to thank those Palauans who have served and currently serve in the United States Armed Forces.
This is a time to honor and celebrate the rich and unique culture of the Palauan people. As you celebrate this special occasion, know that the United States is committed to Palau’s future and we look forward to continuing this partnership. Congratulations and best wishes for a year of peace, progress, and prosperity.
