On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Austria as you celebrate your National Day this October 26.
For hundreds of years, Austria has made contributions large and small to the fields of athletics, music, art, film, theater, architecture and science. Since the adoption of a new constitution, Austria has remained committed to its principles of neutral and balanced engagement with the international community. Today, we are working together to protect democracy and promote freedom in places like Kosovo and the Golan Heights, giving more people the hope of a brighter future.
As you celebrate this special day with family, friends and loved ones, know that the United States stands with you as a partner and friend. Congratulations and best wishes for a year of peace and prosperity.
