On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to join the people of Antigua and Barbuda as you celebrate your independence day this November 1.
The United States and Antigua and Barbuda share a long history of friendship and cooperation. Today, we are working together to defend democracy and promote human rights. Our partnership through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative is enhancing security and prosperity for the region. And through your youth integration initiatives, countless individuals have the chance to build a stronger and brighter future.
As you celebrate this special 30-year milestone, know that the United States looks forward to strengthening this friendship even more in the years to come. I wish all the people of Antigua and Barbuda a safe and happy independence day.
