On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Kuwait as you celebrate the 51st anniversary of your independence, and the 21st anniversary of Kuwait’s liberation this February 25th.
The United States shares a long history of friendship and cooperation with Kuwait, rooted in shared values, democratic traditions and institutions and built on a foundation of respect for human dignity and the pursuit of a more peaceful and prosperous world. Your recent parliamentary elections are a testament to Kuwait’s democratic traditions and proud history.
As you celebrate this special day and reflect on all that you have accomplished, know that the United States is a partner and friend. Best wishes for a year of peace, prosperity, and happiness.
