On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Tuvalu as you celebrate the 34th anniversary of your nation’s independence this October 1.
The United States and Tuvalu have enjoyed a close relationship for years. Our two countries are committed to democracy and rule of law. We will continue to strengthen this relationship as we work together to promote peace, security and economic development in the Pacific and around the world.
As you celebrate this special day, know that the United States stands with you. We wish the people of Tuvalu great success in the coming years.
