Secretary Kerry traveled to Vilnius, Paris, and London on September 6-9, 2013.
Secretary Kerry traveled to Lithuania, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, on September 6. On September 7, Secretary Kerry met in Vilnius with senior Lithuanian government officials to discuss a range of issues, including regional cooperation, energy diversification, and EU Presidency priorities, including the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and the EU Eastern Partnership.
Secretary Kerry also met with the EU Foreign Ministers in informal session, hosted by the Lithuanians, to discuss the Middle East, including Syria, Egypt, and the ongoing direct, final status negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Secretary Kerry traveled to France on September 7. While in Paris, he met with senior French government officials to discuss a range of bilateral and global issues. On September 8, Secretary Kerry also met with representatives of the Arab League.
Secretary Kerry then traveled to the United Kingdom on September 8. While in London, he met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss a range of issues including the ongoing, direct, final status negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians. On September 9, he met with senior U.K. government officials to discuss the broad range of issues on the transatlantic and global agenda.
