Secretary Rice Pays Tribute to U.S.-Australian Alliance at Reagan Presidential Library
Secretary Rice (May 23): "...Australia is and always has been one such ally. Ours is an alliance not of governments but of peoples, one that reflects the deep bond of enduring ideals and shared history, colonial origins, democratic development, and shared political and cultural values. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice hosted Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Downer, MP, in California. The Secretary and Foreign Minister visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. They also visited the San Francisco Bay Area to participate in events highlighting the innovation and technology of "Silicon Valley."
