A U.S. delegation, led by Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins, Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs, traveled to four African countries from August 15– 22 to meet with government officials, the African Union, and civil society groups to further the United States’ nonproliferation agenda.
These discussions in Morocco, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and South Africa are the latest in a series of U.S. efforts to build and strengthen collaboration with African partners around commonly held nonproliferation, nuclear security, and disarmament objectives. The United States looks forward to further cooperation as we work together with our African partners to promote disarmament, build capacity, and reduce the risk of WMD proliferation.
