NPT Review Cycle

Overview
Article VIII of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) contains a provision to convene a conference of Parties to the Treaty to review the operation to assure that the purposes of the Preamble and provisions of the Treaty are being realized. The Treaty also allows for further reviews every five years. The review process now consists of three Preparatory Committee meetings and one Review Conference every five years.

Preparations for the Third Session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

Currently, the United States is preparing for the third meeting of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) for the 2010 NPT Review Conference. It is scheduled for May 4-15, 2009. Below, we will post the official documents of the PrepCom as they are published.
