The State-Defense Integration Division (SDI) is comprised of the Strategic Engagement and State Defense Exchange branches. As a team, SDI provides Department of State support to The Department of Defense for training, education, exercises, experiments, and wargames along with Senior-level engagements, as well as the exchange of personnel; all of which enhance the strategic and operational relationship between the two departments.
The State Defense Exchange Branch orchestrates personnel exchange between the Department of State and the Department of Defense in order to build and maintain a reservoir of shared expertise to inform U.S. policy making and execution, improve readiness, and enhance interoperability.
The Strategic Engagement Branch promotes foreign policy dialogue between the Department of State and the Department of Defense, and increases the understanding of shared equities, capability gaps, and mutually supportive strategies.
