Department of Defense-Department of State actions in the Office of International Security Operations are facilitated by the offices of Maritime and Air-Land Divisions.
After the attacks of September 11, 2001, the Office assumed responsibility for processing the actions and preparing cables associated with deployments of U.S. forces and requests for foreign forces. Examples of deployments include obtaining overflight, landing, and basing authorization for U.S. military aircraft; coordinating the inclusion of foreign military elements in coalition forces, and a multitude of other Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom activities.
