Creation of Position: The International Development Act of 1961 (75 Stat. 447) also authorized the President to appoint a Deputy Inspector General of Foreign Assistance. The Foreign Assistance Act of 1963 (Dec 16, 1963; P.L. 88-205; 77 Stat 388) made the Deputy Inspector General's appointment subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. The position was eliminated in 1977, after the Inspector General of the Foreign Service assumed the functions of the Inspector General of Foreign Assistance.
